Shall we have Tea? -posted by katie

There is nothing quite like a ladies tea. Many homeschool moms and their daughters put together this lovely tea, where Stacy Mcdonald spoke. Thanks to everyone who put this together (including the women in our family! *smile*).

The Sortebergs had a hot table :)
Soft and springy.
Many little ladies, no doubt wondering when the prayer will FINALLY be said, so they can eat *wink*
Pink and white: a most lovely combo.
What's this? Ben Franklin in a tea bag? My stars!
Ah hah, now we begin to see...
My very favorite table! "Patriotic." "Give me liberty, or give me death!" (I like that quote.)
And here is our table. Not as fancy as some, but, notice that no other table had sea shells :)
My friend Katie's Mother's table!
Gotta love those eggs.
Another perfectly elegant table.
Rose petals--I love them!
FOOD. Wow, the food looked really good.
All I can think when I see this is CHOCOLATE.
Check out this cute little tea cozy!
We needed a LOT of tea pots to quench our thirst!
So many different styles.
Mary and Patricia with Simaya, the little girl ham. (sp?).
Trish takes the camera at this point for some artsy pics.
Um, yeah, it's a tea cup with tea in it! Rare I know.
Lillies, almost as pretty as roses.
My mom (L) with other moms! That baby is ADORABLE!!
Posing for the cam (Patricia and I).
Milk in action (way to go Trish!).
Smiles.
Our lovely harpist. She surely did make beautiful music.
Now we have tea.
Smiles!
Trish got the camera again :0
Nice shot. I have a weakness for anything beach-related.

Amy and I.

Have a tea sometime. It sort of helps to put things in perspective :) At least for task-driven me... Have a great week!

An Evening at Alice

About a month ago (yikes!) we were invited to our old house where we lived with my dad's friend (who still lived there) for a year. How's that for a confusing sentence? :) Anyway, Uncle Mike (the friend) had totally redone everything, inside and out, and it was beautiful! The yard especially. So we were invited to our old home to have BBQ and play croquet. Uncle Mike also invited some of our good friends, the Waynes.

A yard view. Wow, take a look at that grass! Vibrant.
Guess whose WHITE foot that is!!?! I don't know how my dad is so tan, yet his feet so milk white! Anyway, you're probably wondering: what in the world are they doing. Well apparently in croquet, you can "send" your opponent's ball (if happen to strike his ball with your hit) wherever you so choose. The guys loved sending. I couldn't see what was so fun about it, but I'm not a guy!
Balls in the grass.
In which Ellie takes a dignified swing for victory.
Or, maybe not quite so dignified *cough*
"I could have sworn my ball hit his..."
Mary, looking quite proper and British (and cute in the bargain).
Looks like a tough shot over the gravel!
Art.
What a fine old tree!
Mr. Wayne and our host.

Poor Bobby is in a pickle now!
Yours truly sporting fake confidence.
Did a horrible hit, and wanted to make up for it by hitting something else (even if it was just the air!).
Jake sizes up his shot.
Dad instructing Miss Mary.
Sick of feet yet?
The excitement of croquet!!
The mamas enjoy the cool June evening.
Then it was food time! Dad, um, eating.
"Eat, drink, and be merry." Hmm the only thing missing from this pic is the being merry part. We've got drinking and eating covered *wink* note: I LOVE THIS PIC it's hilarious!
After our fill of croquet and food, we moved on to badminton. Here Jake and Ellie are taking on the twins.
Who always seem to win somehow. Sorry these pics are a bit dark. Remember, you can always click on the picture to make it bigger, and then hit "back" to go back to the blog.

Thanks to Uncle Mike for having us! It was the perfect BBQ and fellowship with friends. May your summer hold many such get togethers! God bless.
